The Road To Hana Virtual Team Challenge

During the Copperleaf Road to Hana challenge your team of 1 – 4 people will work together and take a 194km (121mi) journey through Maui.

You’ll virtually run, walk, or hike from the Maui airport, along the road to Hana, and up to the summit of the Haleakalā Volcano.

Challenge Begins: July 11, 2022 @ 00:01 PST

Challenge Ends: July 24, 2022 @ 23:59 PST

During this challenge your team will use Virtual Baton App to manage your team and add distance.

Each time anyone on your team runs, walks, or hikes, your team advances along an interactive map towards the finish!

ADDING DISTANCE

Log Your Miles

Your team will use Virtual Baton app to complete this event.

Use the app to manage, and interact with your team, and watch your team move along an interactive course.

There are two ways to add distance during the challenge:

Add distance manually using the Virtual Baton App manual uploading tool
Connect Virtual Baton App with a supported fitness tracking apps (Garmin Connect, MapMyRun, or Strava)

Track Your Progress

Watch your team move along an interactive map. View your team’s position on the course, and explore your virtual surroundings with Google Street View.

It’s like you’re really there!

Unlock Digital Badges

Your team earns digital badges when you reach certain milestones along the route.

Full size digital badges get emailed to your team as you advance along the course.

RANDOM DRAW

Every team that completes the challenge will be entered into a random draw at the conclusion of the event – where each member of the randomly selected team will win a prize!

FASTEST TEAM

Each team member of the team that finishes the challenge the fastest will win a prize.

The fastest team times are determined by the leaderboard. Your time starts when you start your team clock, and ends after your team crosses 194km.

Type in your team name to find your team on this map ( the map may take up to a minute to load ).

Zoom in to street view to see where you are on the course. It’s like you’re really there!!

This leaderboard updates every 5 minutes

RULES

This challenge begins on July 11 at 00:01 PST. Teams may begin their team clocks anytime after the challenge start time.

All running or walking activities created by a team member after the team activates their team clock count towards your team distance total.

Your team clock starts when you tap Start Race your team clock stops when your team reaches a team total greater than 194km

Activity types that will score distance include; Run, Walk, Hike, Wheelchair

Participants can cover any amount of distance during the challenge. There are no minimum or maximum run durations or distances required from each team member.

Team time starts when a team activates their team clock. Team time stops when the team reaches 194km of total distance.

TEAM SETUP

How do I join a team?

After you register you will receive an activation code. Download Virtual Baton App, then use your activation code to access your team!

Does my team have to be exactly 4 people?

No! Your team can be made up of anywhere from 1 – 4 people.

Do my team members have to be in the same area?

No. Your team can be made up of people located anywhere in the world!

USING VIRTUAL BATON APP

Do I have to carry my phone with me while I run/walk?

No. The only time you need your phone is when you are using the Virtual Baton app to add distance to your team, chat with team members, or check the map/leaderboard!

If I run/walk with a team member will both of our distances count?

Yes! Distance covered by any team member at any time will add distance to your team total.

Can I add my steps?

Yes. Steps can be manually added to Virtual Baton App. Steps are converted at 1,000 steps = 760 m

Do I have to use Garmin or MapMyRun?

No, if you don’t want to use a fitness app you can manually input distance (including steps) into Virtual Baton App

If I keep my activities private will they still count?

Yes. When you first connect a fitness app account to Virtual Baton app it will ask for permission to view your private activities. If you select this option then any activities that you make private will still count towards your team total.

Do treadmills count?

Yes! You can run/walk on a treadmill and count those miles towards your team total.

Is there a minimum distance that I need to complete?

There are no distance minimums set for any team member, or any activities. You can throw down 100 meters and call it a day if you’d like!
