During the Turkey Trot team challenge your team of 1 – 4 people will work together to see how far you can move as a team during the week leading up to US Thanksgiving.

Start anytime after the challenge begins on November 18, 2021 at 08:00 PST.

Every 13.1 miles (21.1km) that your team covers earns you entires to win prizes.

If your team covers more than 26.2 miles (42.2 km) you’ll receive a free custom event patch (just pay shipping & handling).

The Turkey Trot Team Challenge patches are 3″ embroidered fabric patches with an iron on backing.

Unlock Digital Badges

Your team earns digital badges for every 42.2 km (26.2 miles) that you cover.

Digital badges will be revealed as you complete the challenge.

More distance = More entries into prize draws

Every 13.1 miles (21.1 km) that your team covers earns you an entry into the prize draw happening at the end of the challenge.

The more you run, the more chances that your team has to win!

One team of runners will each get a pair of sunglasses from goodr!

One team of runners will get gift cards from endūr apparel (enough to get a sweet new pair of socks!)

One team of runners will receive gear from Ciele Athletics’ newest collection.

One team of runners will be staying hydrated with product from Nuun.

ADDING DISTANCE

How to add distance during the challenge

Your team will use Virtual Baton app to complete the Turkey Trot Team Challenge.

Use the app to manage, and interact with your team, and watch your team move along the course.

There are two ways to add distance during the challenge:

Add distance (or steps) manually using the Virtual Baton App manual uploading tool
Connect Virtual Baton App with a supported fitness tracking app

Virtual Baton App is currently compatible with MapMyRun and Garmin Connect.

Start adding distance anytime after the challenge begins on November 18, 2021 at 08:00 PST.

Set your own team goal and complete the challenge at your own pace, or use the leaderboard to compare your distance to other teams.

HOW IT WORKS

Assemble your team; run, walk, or hike, to add distance.

Your team members can be located anywhere in the world!

Run, walk, or hike as far as you want, then use Virtual Baton App to add your distance to your team total.

Track your team’s progress on the leaderboard (if you’re into that sort of thing). Earn entries to win prizes for every 21.1 km (13.1 miles) your team completes.

FAQ’s

TEAM SETUP

How do I join a team?

To create a new team or join an existing team register for the Team Turkey Trot virtual challenge. After you register you will receive an email with your personal activation code (usually within 24 hours of registration).

Download Virtual Baton App, then use your personal activation code to access your team.

Each team member will need to register for the challenge in order to receive an activation code.

Does my team have to be exactly 4 people?

No! Your team can be made up of anywhere from 1 – 4 people.

Do my team members have to be in the same area?

No. Your team can be made up of people located anywhere in the world!

Do we have to finish the challenge by a certain date?

Yes. The Team Turkey Trot Challenge runs from 08:00 PST November 18, 2021 – 15:00 PST on November 25, 2021

Your last run/walk must end prior to 15:00 PST on November 25 in order to count.

USING VIRTUAL BATON APP

What types of exercise count?

Runs, walks, hikes, and steps will add distance during the Team Turkey Trot challenge.

Can I add my steps?

Yes. Steps can be manually added to Virtual Baton App. Steps are converted at 1,000 steps = 760m

Do I have to carry my phone with me while I run?

No. The only time you need your phone is when you are using the Virtual Baton app to add distance to your team, chat with team members, or see where your team is at on the map!

If I run/walk with a team member will both our distances count?

Yes! Any team member at any time add distance to your team total.

Do I have to use a fitness app to track my distance?

No. You can always manually upload distance (including steps) using the manual upload option in Virtual Baton App.

If I use a fitness app and set my activities to private will they still count?

Yes. When you first connect a fitness app account to Virtual Baton App it will ask for permission to view your private activities. If you select this option then any activities that you make private will still count towards your team total.

Do treadmills count?

Yes! You can run/walk on a treadmill and count those miles towards your team total.

Is there a minimum distance that I need to cover?

There are no distance minimums set for any team member, or any activities. You can throw down 100 meters and call it a day if you’d like!

What‘s stopping someone from adding a bunch of distance they didn’t run?

While we do monitor accounts for any suspicious activity (e.g. someone running at world record pace, or adding an unusually high amount of distance) we have found that all of our participants are honest about their uploads.
